The 500 Succession Map Names
In keeping with maps that are generated, so are the names. They were generated using this Markov name generator written by Sam Twidale, modifed with additional libraries.
The process started by making libraries of words (as well as the built in ones) to get the generator to make the right sort of word types. You’ll notice a lot of the names are in the form ‘placenamia’ as this was a target form. After getting the right sort of words the eventual list of 500 were curated from about 5000 generated words, picking the most evocative and or amusing variations by saying them out loud.
At a future date I’ll write a post about how I added libraries to Sam’s name generator to get it to generate the right types of words.
